Dawn M. Florio is the founding and managing partner at Dawn M. Florio Law Firm PLLC. She has been an attorney for over 30 years, practicing in all federal and state courts in New York and New Jersey. Ms. Florio is a force to be reckoned with, one of the top-rated trial attorneys in New York.
Ms. Florio is known as the “Pretty Pitbull Attorney”, her honesty, compassion, tenacity, integrity and relentless work ethic sets her apart from the rest. Ms. Florio’s approach to criminal defense is like no other, a ferocious advocate. She not only builds a case in the courtroom but builds a foundation of trust with her clients, Ms. Florio believes it is important to care for the people she is representing.
Ms. Florio is not your average criminal defense attorney, she does it all! Including complex criminal cases and investigations such as murder, conspiracy to commit murder, drug conspiracies, RICO violations, narcotics offenses, and white-collar crimes. Ms. Florio has represented various high-profile clients and cases that have received media attention.

Ms. Florio received her Juris Doctorate from St. John’s Law School in 1988. While in Law School, Ms. Florio was the President of The Entertainment and Sports Law Society. She also participated in Moot Court Competitions. Ms. Florio held internships with the Nassau County DA’s Office, Manhattan DA's office, The Legal Aid Society of Manhattan and clerked for various judges.
Ms. Florio attended Boston University where she majored in Biology and obtained her Bachelor of Arts in 1984. She founded the Boston University Racquetball Team and was ranked individually 10th in the nation.
Before opening her own practice, Ms. Florio worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx, New York. During that time, she was promoted to senior trial attorney where she prosecuted the most high-profile cases. She was also the Director of the Elder Abuse Unit.
Ms. Florio has also been the President of the Columbian Lawyers Association, Vice President of Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Awareness Bar Association and she sat on the Board of Directors of the Bronx Women’s Bar Association. Ms. Florio is the Vice President of the Survive to Thrive Global charity organization. This non-for-profit organization raises awareness for domestic abuse and raises money for domestic violence survivors.
Ms. Florio specializes primarily in criminal defense but has expanded into Entertainment and Sports Law.
